Raymond A. Dionne, D.D.S., Ph.D

Dr. Raymond Dionne is a clinical pharmacologist specializing in analgesic research. He received a DDS and MS in pharmacology from Georgetown University and a PhD in pharmacology from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University.

He was a Tenured Investigator in the Intramural Research Program at the National Institutes of Health, where he held several administrative positions, including Chief of the Pain and Neurosensory Mechanisms Branch, NIDCR, and Scientific Director, NINR, and received the NIH Director’s Award three times during his 35-year career at NIH. His curriculum vitae lists over 200 clinical trials and original articles, chapters and reviews on analgesic drugs.

Dr. Dionne has also served as a member of the FDA/ASCPT Analgesic Guidelines Committee and Chair of the Analgesiology and Headache Section of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. He is currently Research Professor in the Department of Foundational Sciences at the School of Dental Medicine and the Pharmacology Department at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
